Principal's Message

School principal

Dear Kibler Families,

It is my privilege to be the principal here at Byron Kibler Elementary School. This is the beginning of my third school year here. What I love about our school is that student after student has said they can feel the Kibler Kindness here. This is not one student saying that but many, especially new students to our school. We focus on kindness at Kibler. We teach it, we talk about it, and we celebrate it. We want every student, staff member, and family to feel welcome.

Education is often changing, and we are continuously looking for ways to improve. Our school and district are beginning many new things this year. A few are as follows. First, we have a new schedule where students have a specialist to visit each day, either music, PE, or library/media. This occurs on a rotating basis so students never miss a specialist class. Second, our district's math philosophy is problem-based math, and to support this philosophy, we have adopted a new math curriculum as well, titled Open-Up Resources. Third, we have added UFLI, a phonics-based curriculum, to round out our teaching of the foundational skills of reading. Please feel free to check in with your child's teacher about any questions you may have about their learning.

Here is a link to our Kibler Vision, a one-page document of what we believe and are carrying out for our school family now and into the future. Thank you for being involved in your student's education. The family is the most important educational tool a child has, and we love partnering with you. Thank you for having your child at school each day, ready to do their best and ready to learn.

We are the school with heart. Remember to keep it kind Kibler, and Go Bears!

With Great Respect and Enthusiasm,

Travis Goodlett
